9th July 2025…
Centre for Enhancing Democracy and Good Governance., with the support from UNFPA Kenya, joined athletes, coaches, and athletics stakeholders right at the heart of the action: The running track. During the Kiprun 𝐀𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐬 in Iten, CEDGG rolled out a targeted training and sensitization session focused on the 𝑺𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒂𝒓𝒅 𝑶𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒄𝒆𝒅𝒖𝒓𝒆𝒔 (𝑺𝑶𝑷𝒔) 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑫𝒆𝒕𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏, 𝑷𝒓𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝑮𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓-𝑩𝒂𝒔𝒆𝒅 𝑽𝒊𝒐𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑺𝒆𝒙𝒖𝒂𝒍 𝑬𝒙𝒑𝒍𝒐𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑨𝒃𝒖𝒔𝒆 (𝑮𝑩𝑽/𝑺𝑬𝑨) 𝒊𝒏 𝑨𝒕𝒉𝒍𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒔.
This unique engagement allowed Centre for Enhancing Democracy and Good Governance. to directly interact with athletes and stakeholders in their own environment, bridging the gap between policy and practice. By bringing the campaign to the tracks, the message was not just heard, but felt, as participants connected the SOPs to their lived experiences in the world of competitive sport.
The event drew impressive attendance, including many athletes and camp managers who had not previously interacted with the SOPs. This first-hand engagement was critical in popularizing the framework and ensuring it is not just known but owned by the very people it is meant to protect.
Centre for Enhancing Democracy and Good Governance. thanks Kiprun 𝐀𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩 for the invitation and remains committed to ensuring safe, inclusive, and accountable sporting environments for all.
